Revolution and Exile
Breguet expanded his business in 1787 by going into partnership with Xavier Gide, a clock merchant. The partnership ended in 1791 due to various disagreements.
Breguet made three trips to England—in 1789, 1790, and 1791—where he met watchmaker John Arnold. The two men became friends and shared their discoveries. At the same time, Breguet explored new markets in England and pressed for payment from various English clients (including as the Prince of Wales). Given the unstable political situation in France, Breguet considered moving to London.
