Children figures

Ingres produced several portrait drawings of children, such as The Montagu Sisters — little girls of ten and seven — The Stamaty Family — a group portrait in which the children play an important part — and Charles Lethière as a Child. All these drawings have a freshness, warmth and intimacy, which demonstrate Ingres's special talent for making his models seem alive, and his ability to reveal the personality of his sitters even at a very young age.
